Activities
The NOTA Scotland Branch seeks to promote the aims of NOTA in Scotland. The Committee brings together people from the various agencies involved in working with sexual offenders in Scotland and the branch activities have a strong multi-agency focus.
We hold a 2 day annual conference in April. Key note speakers at our conferences over the last three years have included some of the leading international experts in the field including, Bill Marshall, Liam Marshall, Ruth Mann, Don Grubin, Ethel Quayle, Karl Hanson, Simon Hackett, Tony Wards, Tony Beech and Geris Serran.
We hold an AGM in late August or early September which is a day’s event with workshops. This year the AGM is on 27 August 2010 at the Stirling Management Centre and will be an all-day workshop by David Briggs on ‘Family Re-unification’. Further details will be available soon.
We have also started to hold other events focussing on specific areas. In June 2009 we had a joint meeting with the Forensic Network on Sexual Offending and Mental Health, and at the end of this year we are planning an event focussed on young people.
Along with the Forensic Network we are hosting a Practitioners’ Forum. This aims to provide a place for practitioners from various agencies who work with sexual abusers to meet to discuss practice, research and service developments and to look at difficult and complex issues that arise in the work that people do. Further information on the Practitioners’ Forum will be available soon.
