Prohibition Isn’t working – Progressive Approaches to Supporting Young People in Tackling Online HSB’s and Online Harms

In this session Jonny Hunt, Andy Phippen, Louisa Street and Emily Setty will present different perspectives on engaging with and supporting young people around online harmful sexual behaviours and online harms, what young people say they want from adults in supporting them while navigating online challenges, and the current realities of the Online Safety ecosystem.  They will present findings from research projects and argue that prohibitive political and educational approaches, the predominant narrative in the last twenty years, have failed, and that approaches adopting public health and harm reduction approaches have the potential to be more in line with what young people are calling for.
